2026 Arab Sailing Championships

The 2026 Arab Sailing Championships – Optimist Class concluded this past weekend in Soma Bay, Egypt, taking place from 28 January to 1 February 2026. The event was organized by the Egyptian Sailing & Waterski Federation in cooperation with the Arab Sailing Federation, bringing together the region’s top young sailors for high-level competition in the Optimist class.

 

Strong Regional Competition in the Optimist Fleet

The Optimist regatta showcased intense racing throughout the championship, with sailors from across the Arab world competing in varied and demanding conditions. The fleet demonstrated a high standard of youth sailing with over 35 sailors from 12 nations, reflecting the growing strength of junior development programs in the region.

 

UAE Leads, with Saudi Arabia, Oman, and Egypt on the Podium

The United Arab Emirates delivered a standout performance in the Optimist class, securing top positions across multiple categories. Saudi Arabia and Oman also recorded strong results, particularly in the Overall and Junior divisions.

 

Egypt made its mark in the Girls category, placing two sailors on the podium and underlining the depth of local talent in the Optimist class.

Overall, the Optimist competition at the 2026 Arab Sailing Championships highlighted the future of sailing in the Arab region, with emerging talent and close racing setting a positive tone for the years ahead.
