Recycled Optimist Parts and Equipment Program

Recycled Optimist Parts and Equipment Program

The IODA Rope Program (Recycled Optimist Parts & Equipment) was launched in May of 2021 and was recognized by being a finalist at the World Sailing 11th hour Sustainability Awards in December of that year.

The ROPE Program has been very well received and there is great interest in both, givers and recipients. Some offers to send big quantities of equipment to certain countries and regions have been presented and we will be working on those in the upcoming months. We will keep you posted!

We are now also looking for support from shipping companies and suppliers that can help move this program farther. If you can help in any way, please contact us!

Vision: Engage Optimist sailors in Sustainability and Social Responsibility efforts.

Mission: IODA aims to promote Sustainability and Social Responsibility with its ROPE program by engaging the sailors worldwide to recycle and reuse Optimist Parts and Equipment by sharing with their peers all around the World.

The idea:  To promote our sailors to bring extra equipment to IODA Championships so it can be collected, catalogued and distributed to local sailing schools in need as well as to specific schools, clubs, and countries that are in dire need of this equipment, giving it a second life and good use.
